Thick Crust Pizza Dough Recipe


  • Ingredients:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 envelope of dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil


  • Combine yeast and sugar in a mixing bowl.
  • Add warm water to yeast mixture and let sit for approx. 5 mins (this allows time to let yeast activate).
  • Using bread hook stir in salt and flour. Mix until roughly blended.
  • Add olive oil and mix until the dough forms itself into a ball. (if dough is dry add a dash of water, if it is too wet at a sprinkle of flour).
  • Knead for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Transfer ball of dough to a greased bowl (keep using the olive oil) and roll the dough in the oil until fully covered.
  • Let rise for 45 min - 60min in a warm place.
  • After dough has risen, punch it down with 4 or 5 punches and divide into two equal parts.
  • Begin forming each part into a pizza shape, depending on if you want a circle or a rectangle, or what-have-you. Be sure to for a crust on the edge.
  • Prick the flat of the dough with a fork to help deflate big bread bubbles.
